Current position of development
Michelle is the new name for DesktopLite Thingy. We felt a name change was in order to give it a more modern, professional sound.
Development is currently in progress, which will give better support for future versions of Windows, starting with Vista.
Unfortunately, a problem has yet to be resolved concerning the DDE server. The previous approach was to use an API call in 2000 and XP, which fails in Vista. This has meant building a dedicated DDE server for Michelle. In turn, this has meant that I have had to learn this technology, and its purpose. At the time of posting this, the DDE server does not work at all. I will be speaking with Jake to see if we can make it work, but if anyone has any suggestions or can help, please email me ( sclark at nymtec dot com ).
There was several other areas where Michelle was not compatible with Vista, but those have been fixed. Once the DDE server issue is resolved, there will be a beta release version 1.1.0.
Thank you for your patience.

Re: Current position of development
Good news! Certain problems in Michelle have been resolved. Of course, I am aware that the system tray does not function fully under Vista, and every effort is being made to make it work correctly. This may involve a re-write of that section of code.
Michelle will be released as version 1.0.9 beta. I would appreciate any testing and error reporting you can manage. Please use this forum to post your bugs, but open a new thread for each bug to be discussed. I would also appreciate testing of the DDE capabilities of Michelle under any/all of the supported OS's.
Many thanks for your continued support and cooperation.
michelle is great
michelle is a good idea
Not sure if this is a bug or not
Hi! I really love Michelle and am currently running it on XP Pro on a 733Mhz former office machine. it really makes a difference in performance.Great work!
I don't know if this is a bug or not,but for some reason I am unable to switch the clock in Michelle's upper right hand corner to normal non-military time. I went through the .ini file but could find no mention of clock settings. Also I don't know how this would be to add,as I am not a programmer, but if there was anyway to add shortcuts/folders to the Michelle main menu it would be great. That way instead of dumping everything on the desktop or quick launch I could have a couple of folders or use an organizing quicklaunch replacement like popsel to keep my games, media players, utilities, etc.
Anyway I think you are doing a great job, keep up the good work!
Some interesting ideas...
Some interesting ideas that I also feel need incorporating. But, could you elaborate on what you said about the clock, please.
I know just what the poster
I know just what the poster means, in case you still don't get his meaning, about the links & about the clock. Is DLT really open source? After using it, that was just what I was hoping for, cos I know I can take what you've done and add meaningful ability that is coherent with your intentions. Then I saw this:

Thanks for trying Michelle.
